The Emblem

The Emblem of the Kings and Queens Medical University College is made up of the aesthetic arrangement of Five (5) distinct elements. These Five elements are relevant to the prime objectives of the University College. This are Medical Education, Medical Research and Service to Humanity. They are: Sceptre or Medical Staff, Royal Golden Crown, KQMUC, Wreath of Green Leaves, and a Motto.
The Emblem consists of a winged Sceptre or Medical Staff around which are entwined a pair of snakes, this being the international symbol for medical service providers. This symbol, used all over the world, also reflects the University & Hospital’s dual responsibility to help the sick and injured in Ghana and African Continent and to Train and Re-train Health Professionals.

The Arrangement of our Emblem

Below the Sceptre or Medical staff in the foreground, with a Symbolic Royal Golden Crown. The symbolism of this Crown is powerful. At one level, it is symbolic of Ghana’s Proud History, based on hundreds of years where Ghana was a leader among African Nations. As a nation, Ghana was very wealthy from the vast resources of the valuable Gold that was found within its borders. It was this background that gave rise to the colonial name Gold Coast and later changed to Ghana when the country became independent. Within the Sceptre is KQMUC acronym which Means Kings and Queens Medical University College. There is a Wreath of Greens Leaves and Motto: “Deo Medice” which Literally means “ God the Healer”
These leaves stand for the land and its rich natural resources. The green leaves, therefore, also signify the purification of the minds of the Graduates from the Kings and Queens Medical University College
There are two green leaves, Beneath all these is a Motto "Deo Medice” a Latin word which Literally means “ God the Healer”. The Motto is embossed around the base of the Royal Crown

The Golden Royal Crown

The Golden Crown is also a representative Academic Crown to be symbolically awarded to students at Graduation Ceremonies as recognition for hard work and commitment over a number of years of study and learning.

Our Colours

Colours used in our Emblem and Website have a strong psychological impact on our Institution. The colours for Kings and Queens Medical University College are Emerald Green and Royal Gold. While these colours are symbolic of the History and Geography of Ghana, they are well chosen because Emerald Green connotes or represents Health, Growth, Nurturing, Education, Instruction, Calmness and Youth. Consequently, it is an ideal colour to represent a Medical University & Teaching Hospital that embraces Healing and Science. Consider that in relation to the designation of Gold, a hue of Yellow. This colour signifies energy, joy, intelligence and optimism and the Royal Status of Kings and Queens Medical University College. Psychologically, Yellow / Gold is the happiest colour in the spectrum.
